Installation Guide

What You’ll Need:

Cleaning: Isopropyl Alcohol (70%+) and a lint-free microfiber cloth.

Application: A felt-edge squeegee (or a credit card wrapped in a soft cloth).

Positioning: Masking tape and a tape measure.

Step 0: Pre-Cut

Lightly slice the backing paper with a knife without slicing through the sticker or tape on top side. This makes it easier to install one side at a time.

Step 1: Prep the Surface

Clean the windshield thoroughly. Wipe the area with Isopropyl Alcohol to remove all wax and oils.

Step 2: Alignment (The "Hinge" Method) Videos can be found on YouTube.

  1. Without peeling the backing, place the banner on the glass.

2. Use a tape measure to ensure it is centred and level.

3. Place a long strip of masking tape vertically down the center of the banner, sticking it to the glass above and below. This is your "hinge."

Step 3: Peeling

  1. Lift one side of the banner toward the centre hinge and peel the white backing paper away. Cut the backing paper off. *This can also be done beforehand with a knife if you’re careful. Don’t slice through the top side (tape) only the backing paper. It helps to have extra masking tape behind where you’re planning to cut.

2. Carefully lay the decal back down onto the glass, working from the center hinge outward.

Step 4: Squeegee Time

1. Using firm pressure, squeegee from the center toward the edges.

2. Push all the air bubbles out to the perimeter.

3. Repeat for the other side of the banner.

Step 5: The Final Reveal

1. Wait 10–15 minutes for the adhesive to bond.

2. Slowly peel the clear transfer tape back at a sharp angle (flat against the glass). If the vinyl lifts, stop and squeegee that area again.

3. Pro Tip: Let the car sit in the sun for 24 hours before using windshield wipers or going through a car wash.

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

Installing in the wind: Dust will get trapped under the vinyl instantly.

Extreme Temps: Don’t install on a freezing windshield or a burning hot one. Aim for "room temperature" glass.

Rushing: Take your time. If a bubble appears, try to push it to the edge; if it's trapped, a tiny prick with a sewing needle can release the air.

Installation & Replacement Policy

At Keep Left, we take pride in the quality of our premium vinyl decals and windshield banners. Because our products are DIY-installed, please review our policy regarding application errors.

1. Installation Responsibility

We provide high-quality materials, but the successful application of the decal is the responsibility of the customer. * We are not responsible for errors made during the installation process, including but not limited to: bubbles, wrinkles, tearing, crooked alignment, or debris trapped under the vinyl.

• We highly recommend researching the "Wet Method" or "Dry Method" or seeking professional help for large-scale banners.

2. One-Time "Oopsie" Discount

We know mistakes happen! If you accidentally ruin your decal during installation:

• We do not offer free replacements for installation errors.

• However, we will provide a one-time 40% discount on a replacement of the exact same item.

• To qualify, you must email a clear photo of the failed installation to leigh@keepleftau.com within 14 days of delivery.

3. Defective Products

If there is a physical defect with the decal before you attempt installation (e.g., a cut error or incorrect color), please contact us immediately.

Do not attempt to install a defective decal. Once the backing paper is removed or the decal is applied to a surface, it is considered "used" and cannot be replaced or refunded under our defect policy.

4. Surface Preparation

Failure to properly clean the glass surface is the leading cause of adhesion failure. Please ensure your windshield is:

• Free of wax, Rain-X, or ceramic coatings.

• Cleaned with isopropyl alcohol (not glass cleaner, which can leave a residue).

• Installed in temperatures between 15°C and 25°C (60°F–80°F).
